About & Program Overview:
Rock Solid Refuge (RSR) is a 12-month, biblically-based, residential program for 13-18 year old male teens who struggle with life-controlling issues such as substance abuse, pornography and challenging behaviour. The focus is on four key areas: Faith & Discipleship, Mentorship, Education and Life Skills. Rock Solid Refuge enables students to confront challenges with confidence.
Faith & Discipleship: Teaching God’s love, forgiveness and restoration through repentance and reliance on Him.
Rock Solid Refuge is committed to teaching students God’s Word, guiding them to a personal relationship with Him, and discipling them in their faith. This is accomplished through pastoral staff, counselling, chapel, devotionals, local church involvement and Christian studies assignments.
Mentorship: Developing integrity, perseverance and selflessness as the foundation for maturity and success.
Spiritual lessons are incorporated into daily activities and discussions, helping students learn to make positive choices and equipping them for life after Rock Solid Refuge (RSR). Each student is assigned a staff mentor who meets with him regularly to encourage him, share testimonies, play games, have devotions together, go for a meal and discuss his progress.
Education: Providing a fully-accredited supportive learning environment to restore confidence and help achieve academic potential.
Rock Solid Refuge is a qualified independent school teaching Saskatchewan curriculum from a Christian worldview, under the supervision of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. Schooling has been a casualty of many students’ lifestyle choices. The goal of RSR is to re-engage students, repair education gaps and help them achieve their academic potential. This is accomplished through ongoing assessment, one-on-one tutoring and classroom activities.
Life Skills: Equipping with employ-ability skills and work ethic, contributing to success in family and community.
Students do daily chores, basic care of building and yard. Community service and daily work projects introduce them to basic carpentry, maintenance, lawn and garden care, livestock care and farming. These assignments help develop responsibility and work ethic while building employ-ability skills such as communication, leadership, time-management and critical thinking.
Rock Solid Refuge is located 50 miles southwest of Swift Current and 21 miles northeast of Shaunavon, providing services for students and their families across Canada.
